Welcome visitors
Nowadays, over two million people visit the National Park every year. The Saxon Switzerland National Park and Conservation Area offer virtually ideal ways to discover and experience nature and landscapes directly, to recreate actively, to learn again how to be amazed or to rest and find oneself.
A guest in a sensitive environment
Little touched nature is rare in Germany – only one percent of the country’s area remains wild nature. This compares to 99 percent of human-shaped cultural landscapes. Respectful behavior of our natural environment and landscapes, as well as our consideration for others are indispensible. This also requires entering nature gently and unobtrusively and, if possible, leaving no traces behind. The climber and outdoor pioneer, Yvon Chouinard, expressed this once as a wish: “I like to imagine, we have the freedom to do what we want, as long as we don’t have a negative impact on fellow human beings and the earth.”
