Although three-quarters of Germans find environmental protection one of the most important political tasks, over five million people are already involved in environmental organizations and everybody is talking about the “Environment – Conservation – Ecology”, natural habitats in Germany are scarce. Everyone, without exceptions, is required when it comes to stopping this trend and reversing it. Because, as is often the case, it is the small, every-day things that can make a big difference.

In the National Park there are many activities in which nature lovers get involved for “their Saxon Switzerland”. The spectrum ranges from large events to the voluntary commitment by local residents during the regular maintenance of amphibian fences along public roads. About 70 conservation volunteers are currently active for Saxony’s only national park. They support the National Park Watch and rangers in their public relations and visitors guidance tasks mostly on weekends. Again, we welcome any new interest in assistance. Last but not least there is the possibility, as a member or supporter of the Friends of the Saxon Switzerland National Park eV to work for further development of the National Park.
