Closure of Neuer Weg near Kleinstein

The Neuer Weg between Kleinstein and Schwarze Schlüchte is closed on 6 October due to tree fellings to secure the emergency route. The work will most likely only last one day.

There are various alternatives for Malerweg hikers, as the entire section of the Malerweg between Arnstein and Sturmbauers Eck cannot be used due to the closure:

  • Switching to public transport: we advise against walking along the road for the entire stretch. Instead, you can take the bus, line 241 towards Hinterhermsdorf Erbgericht. Get on at the Buschmühle stop and get off at Sturmbauers Eck (two stops). From there you can follow the Malerweg again. Use of public transport is free with the "Gästekarte mobil". The bus runs every hour from 8.56 a.m. to 5.56 p.m., then at 7.26 p.m. and 8.26 p.m.
  • The part of the Malerweg via Neuer Weg (past Arnstein and Kleinstein) and Pohlshörner can be omitted. Instead, you can walk past the Buschmühle via Hohlfelds Graben and Flügel E, past Kanstein and Teichstein to the Zeughaus, with a worthy detour to the Teichstein. This saves around 2.5 km compared to the actual route.
  • If you want to visit Arnstein, Kleinstein and Pohlshörner and don't want to take the bus, you can hike a 3 to 3.5 km longer variant. Two variants are shown here from the Buschmühle bus stop to Sturmbauers Eck as a suggested route on Mapy.com:
