Accessibility statement

1. Basic information

The Saxon Switzerland National Park and Forest Administration (NLPFV) strives to make its websites www.nationalpark-saechsische-schweiz.de and www.nationalparkzentrum-saechsische-schweiz.de accessible to all users.

The legal basis for this is the Disability Equality Act (BGG), the Saxony Inclusion Act (SächsInklusG), the Saxony E-Government Act (SächsEGovG) and the Act implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public bodies (Barrier-Free Websites Act – BfWebG).

The benchmark for accessibility is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, which were published as a W3C Recommendation (web standard) (criteria of the European standard EN 301 549, version 3.2.1, and the further developed BITV 2.0 (Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance).

2. Accessibility status

This statement was created on 4 June 2025 as part of the relaunch and is currently being updated based on the review conducted by the Monitoring Agency for Accessibility of Information Technology in the Free State of Saxony (BfIT Saxony).

The review found that the website is not fully accessible. Of the 49 applicable requirements according to WCAG 2.1, 37 were met. Particularly critical deficiencies exist in areas such as alternative text, keyboard operability, focus guidance, semantic structuring and audio descriptions for videos.

The following content and functions are currently only accessible to a limited extent:

- Alternative texts for images, SVG and control graphics (to be fixed in the 3rd-4th quarter of 2025 as planned)

- Video elements without verified subtitles and audio descriptions (scheduled to be fixed in the fourth quarter of 2025)

- PDF documents not fully PDF/UA-compliant (scheduled to be fixed in the third to fourth quarter of 2025)

- Use without a mouse (e.g. interactive map functions, filters) (scheduled to be fixed in Q3-Q4 2025)

- Insufficiently labelled link texts and form elements (scheduled to be fixed in Q3 2025)

- Incorrect or ambiguous focus order (scheduled to be fixed in Q3-Q4 2025)

- Hidden content (e.g. navigation) cannot be closed using the keyboard (scheduled to be fixed in Q3-Q4 2025)

- Partially insufficient colour contrasts and missing line breaks when enlarging text (scheduled to be fixed in the third or fourth quarter of 2025)

- Offers in easy language and German sign language (recommended – not currently planned)

A complete BITV test report is available on request. The revision to remedy the deficiencies is being carried out in stages and is scheduled to be completed by 31 December 2025. Content that is not currently accessible can be provided in an accessible form on request.
