Nature market

Since 1996 on the market square and on the Elbe meadows of the town of Wehlen

A celebration of regional products: On the first Sunday in September, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the National Park Region Nature Market traditionally takes place in the town of Wehlen. This initiative by the National Park and Forestry Administration, the town of Wehlen and the parish brings together customers and producers of sustainable products from the region at around 60 stands.

Exciting nature and knowledge games about the Saxon Switzerland National Park as well as various breeds of sheep and goats combined with expert information await children on the Elbe meadows!

The nature market is much more than just a treat for the taste buds! Here you can listen to the finest live music, taste good regional wine, talk shop and stroke sheep. All the senses are catered for in the unique market atmosphere on the beautiful square in front of Wehlen Church on the Elbe.

As in 1996, when it was first organised, the Saxon Switzerland National Park and Forest Administration, the city administration and the cyclists' church of the city of Wehlen continue to organise the annual nature market. Some of the original vendors are still there – we are very happy about that and would like to say thank you!

Admission is free.

The Saxon Switzerland Nature Market: celebrating regionality for 28 years

Under the motto ‘Be there – enjoy – taste – listen – discuss – experience – listen to life!’, the idea behind the first nature market in 1996 is more relevant today than it was then. We are very happy to support sustainable projects in the Saxon Switzerland National Park region and contribute both personnel and financial resources. Undisturbed natural development in the national park is just as important to us as the preservation of the cultural landscape. In this way, we actively participate in the regional development of our national park region.
